Treatment of Abscess

There are three different types of abscess around teeth caused mostly by bacterial infection and/or food trap. They are periodontal, gingival, and/or endodontic in origin. These abscesses should be treated as soon as possible since they can spread to other parts of body and cause more serious infections and/or even death. A periodontist is a specialist who can diagnose the origin of these abscesses and treat them if they are gingival and/or periodontal in origin. In cases of endodontic abscess, we refer patient back to their general dentist and/or to an endodontist for root canal therapy.
