Ridge Augmentation

Ridge augmentation and bone grafting procedure is performed before dental implant placement to increase the amount of bone and/or to enhance aesthetics. Different types of bone graft material can be used for bone regeneration. The options are:

• Atutogenous bone (from the patient)
• Allograft (human donor graft)
• Xenograft (another species of bone)
• Aloplast (synthetic material)

Different types of membranes have been used to improve the amount and quality of bone formation as well. Collagen membranes and EPTFE membranes are the main ones used.
